So What is
Dominoes in Action?
That thought came to me many years after I became a follower of Christ. I will tell you later where the term came from, but first I will share what a Domino in Action really is.
I am sure growing up that you stood dominoes on their end in a line and after they were all standing, if one of your siblings did not knock them down, you had the delight of touching the first one and watching them all fall. You would create all types of styles; circles, trails, and patterns that split into different directions and came back together, and many other domino patterns. That was so much fun that you would start all over and do the same thing many times. The domino you first touched each time would start a movement that would continue until you ran out of dominoes. The more skilled you became, the more you would line up the dominoes in different challenging patterns.
Some times you would make a fork in the path of dominoes and watch them fall in different direction. That was cool! Now they have domino conventions where great displays are put on and people compete for money to have the best and biggest domino presentation.

The dominoes were “influencers”.
One impacted the other and it all started with one domino.
Without the first one, there was no second one. Each one standing depended on the one behind them to make a proper connection. They had to be close enough to connect to influence the outcome.
It appeared to me that our life is like dominoes. Without other people in the right place at the right time, we could never influence others. And, if our lives were really effective, we would be like the dominoes that branched off in multiple directions and influenced a larger picture of a beautiful piece of art.
The bigger picture requires more dominoes, or individuals in our lives, that we would impact; and it takes a lot longer to organize, but has a greater impact or influence.
Just think about the influencers in your life. Think about all the other people who have influenced you to get where you are today. Did you get where you are by yourself? No! Influencers, or dominoes in action shape all leaders. Reflecting on my life, I remember many people who were dominoes for me.
